Season wrap-up/Code of Conduct letter

Dear Hills Parents and Players:

As we head into the close of the season and tournament play, the Board of Directors feels it is important to review some key components regarding our club philosophies and our player “Code of Conduct.”

Litchfield Hills Youth Lacrosse is an organization created to allow boys and girls to learn the game of lacrosse in a safe, supportive, and appropriate environment. It is the Board’s expectation that all players (and their families) will conduct themselves in a manner that promotes teamwork, respect for opponents and officials, and fun-based learning.  We are proud that our members have taken these expectations seriously, and we look forward to a positive close of the season.

With this concept in mind, please review the following “high-points” of our Code of Conduct, agreed upon by all of our registered players and families:

We, as a LHYL participant (player, coach, and fan), will:

  • Learn the rules of lacrosse to be a better player, coach, and fan.
  • Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating only positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every event.
  • Support the drug and tobacco-free environment at all LHYL events.
  • Remember that the field is a classroom, and everyone is learning.
  • Focus on fun and participation.
  • Make only supportive comments to all players, coaches, and officials.
  • Utilize team-related social media appropriately.

While on the field, we will NOT:

  • Use profanity at an LHYL event.
  • Criticize coaches, players, or officials.
  • Touch an opposing player, coach, or official in a threatening manner.

The Board of Directors has been extremely proud of our club’s reputation throughout Connecticut as a respectful, sportsmanlike opponent.  We hope that our fans and players will continue to promote our club accordingly, not only through our commitment to the items listed above, but also, through our actions when it matters the most - during closely contested, competitive games.

Please help us continue to honor the game in a manner worthy of its creators.

LHYL members & friends,

I know it’s hard to believe, it feels like Spring hasn't even got here yet, but NWC summer ball is just weeks away!!

Registration is NOW OPEN for NWC (NorthWest Corner) Summer Lacrosse.

We will again be offering 3 programs for summer lacrosse.

Registration and payment are required before stepping on the field.

Three groups:

NWC Men's High School and up (U30) - for incoming freshmen and older (Under 30) - on Tuesday nights.

NWC Men’s 30+ League (O30) – men's 30 and older - on Wednesday nights –

NWC Women’s High School and up - for incoming freshmen and older - on Thursday nights.

All groups are "pick-up" style, there are no coaches. Players show up, we throw sticks in a pile, split into two teams and play!

If we get a lot of players in a particular group, we go into 3 teams and do round-robin - 3 shorter games.

Games have a referee and representatives from LHYL are on hand to supervise.

Registration fee covers insurance, fields, paint, balls, referees, and custom NWC reversible pinnies.

Games go for 7 weeks with make-ups for rain-outs.

For starts, we are looking at:

“Old Men's" league starting on Wed, June 14

Men’s High School+ starting on MONDAY, June 19 (Then Tuesdays after that)

Women’s starting on Thurs, June 22

Men’s games are played at Bantam Civic Association field on Route 209 in Bantam, 6:15PM starts.

Women’s games are played at Morris Town Beach field, on East Shore Road in Morris, 6:15PM starts.

Goalies are always desperately needed.  Any and all goalies interested in playing and in a free registration should contact Jeff Porter.  Contact info below.

Note:  These are not “elite” leagues playing other clubs, nor instructional clinics.  They are designed as friendly, for-fun, summer games for rising high school athletes, college kids and adults of any skill level to have some fun, get a good workout in, and keep lax skills sharp.  A referee will strictly enforce rules, particularly prohibiting "take-out" checks, unnecessary roughness, etc.  Such activities will result in immediate expulsion from the program. All players must be in proper, legal equipment.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact:
